August 13 Women of a certain age are like sunflowers, we know how to turn our faces to the sun. Greetings! It's been a good week! We had a lovely time at the Mozart Festival... thanks Michelle for the tickets! The concert was at Shelburne Farms, a gorgeous renovated barn... I say barn, but it's honestly castle like. There is a teaching and working barnyard, a cheese making facility, a stellar wood shop etc.... and in the corner of the horseshoe shape barn grounds, the tent was erected for the orchestra. We spread a blanket, ate well and listened while looking up at the sky..... and watched the moon rise. It was magical, and funny.... when, at a very impromptu moment, the sheep.... http://www.sheep.com/sounds/baasheep2.wav Gotta love it! I received my latest yarn purchase today and plan on using it for a simple wrap. Triangular in shape, with just a bit of lace on the edge. I love all these yummy variegated yarns, but it's too easy to loose a lace pattern in them. So, just on the edge, I think, will be pretty. As you can see my little 'join as I go' crochet squares are coming along! I was going to do 100 and make it square, but decided to do 10 across and 12 down for a more rectangular shape. I'll work at least 8 rows around in a double crochet. Believe me, it's hard to put down! Yummy wool squares full of color, what's not to love? My flowers don't seem to mind all this rain! They continue to bloom and flourish. Our little adopted cat, Stripes, has been missing since a week ago Tuesday.... boy do we miss him. He was such an unexpected joy, full of life and love, so we do hope he returns. I took a walk in the woods behind the house and called for him. No luck, but I did find an owl feather, a rare and unexpected treat. My favorite time in those woods is winter while snowshoeing.... this time of year, especially with all this rain, it's thick and damp and buggy! A new batch of leather straps is now available. The leather is smooth and thick and I like the colors I picked, hope you do too! Thanks to all for the rave reviews that have come in lately... much appreciate as always! And welcome to all of you who are new to the site! Thanks for being here. I'll join you as we, good women, knit on.... Martha. |
