Watch Tower of the North

North stand the mountains,

A wall of old women and men,

Heads hoary with snow.

Bulls bellow in the high meadows,

The winds of winter roar,

But stone stands fast.

The body bears its burdens,

A warm home for the soul.

Starlight fills the dark, cold night.

Stand fast. Stand firm. Forever.

~Happy New Year to all! It's good to be back. I like my work and missed it. Cold here today, freezing really! Even though we had sun (and you all know how much I like taking my pictures outside in full sun) it was well below zero with the wind chill...just too cold. Good to know though that the days are getting longer! I had some very nice time in the woods, and two great snowshoeing afternoons. Lots of deer tracks, so sweet to see where they bed down for the cold nights. Bird feeders are filled and the Chickadees are eating overtime! Pellet stove is on high and the meals are hot and full of comfort.

I had some very nice time to knit over the holidays...starting and finishing three projects. A neck cowl for my sister (Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool) a green ribbed scarf for Woody (Mirasol's Hacho) and a cabled hat for Taylor (Berroco Pure Marino). I was pleased with everything and had loads of fun making them. I'm a bit behind this week, so have to run. Still lots to type!

Again, it's good to be back. If you're in the cold...stay warm! And we'll all knit on good women!

Martha.
