July 23
Greetings!
We had a great week in Maine! Cold, but it doesn't much matter when
you're on the lake. I caught up on lots of sleep, knitting and
reading. We lost a day due to the wedding, but it's okay.... next year
we'll catch up.
Allison is on vacation this week but is able to be there to upload the
bags at the usual time tonight. She does need all information by 3:30
today so I'm scrambling..... and won't have time for accessory cases.
Look for them next week...
This does mean though that I get to go to our town's farmer's market
which is held every Thursday. I look forward to some good vegetables
and perhaps a bouquet of flowers?
Northeast Fiber Arts is having their big summer sale this weekend,
along with our usual 'last Saturday of the month get together. Should
be fun.... we'll be working on the Heifer project knitting... and some
of our own.
Before I left for vacation, I found an artist in Etsy whose work I
quickly fell in love with. I had a lovely time creating a custom piece
with Beth, and it was waiting for me when I returned home. See my
'story necklace' here:

I love it, and as soon as I put it on it felt right at home. Her work
is the perfect blend of quality, artistry and earthiness. My necklace
holds deep meaning for me and I know I'll treasure it always.
Here's a write up Beth was nice enough to post on her blog:

When on the ferry going over for the wedding I noticed a woman
knitting.... of course I had to go over and see her work. We had a
great time chatting about where we lived, our kids and of course,
knitting. She loved my bag, but explained that she lives in Manhattan
and commutes daily using public transportation. She described what
she'd love to find in a knitting bag and I couldn't get it out of my
mind... so see it here tonight. By next week Allison will have a page
for it, and it'll be called the Manhattan Commuter Bag. Look for it
tonight though under Hybrids. It's by far my most time consuming bag,
and requires more fabric than any other, but I'm very pleased with the
result. She said she wouldn't even care what it looked like as long as
it was functional... which surprised me as I think I"m the opposite. I
buy what's pretty and make it work! Though the best of both worlds is
always the goal. It was hard for me too to imagine relying on public
transportation too... as I live where I do on my simple dirt road. But
knitting brought us together, and the ferry ride was over before I
knew it. Mission accomplished.
Best move on, Allison is waiting..... so knit on god women!
