June 18
Greetings! Actually it's June 17 now, but Allison is taking her annual trip to Clearwater and is leaving in the morning. So all of here work needs to be done before she leaves, and hopefully I won't have any problems with 'the' button which will upload the bags... yikes!

Have a great time Allison!
Between being away over the weekend, and losing tomorrow, I still have nine bags to offer and am very pleased with that. Look for Portable Pattern Pockets etc... next week. We had a good time in Maine, luckily catching some Saturday morning sun. I spent the time sitting on the dock while Paul was fishing, and I happily switched between my book and my knitting. My sister Wendy joined us for most of Saturday and we had a great time catching up and walking through the woods..... porch sitting was nice too as was the boat ride! I caught up on some much needed sleep, and was lulled into peaceful dreams by the sounds of the loons. On our way home we stopped at two of my favorite antique shops and I found a stellar batch of vintage buttons, along with one of the most gorgeous vintage bed spreads..... ever. I was contemplating two vintage pieces of barkcloth (old seat covers) when I looked up as the prettiest shade of blue caught my eye. The spread is from the 1940's and is made from a heavy denim weight cotton. It is (was) pristine. Thick and little to no fading. Whoever made it did a beautiful job. I didn't hesitate. I know how rare these fabrics are becoming, and especially in this condition! When I told the shop owner I was thinking of cutting it, she grimaced. I told her I wasn't totally decided (even though I was) for she too knows how rare these pieces have become. You can see it here on my yard, and you'll see it tonight as a bag! I was going to put it on a bed to photograph it, but was afraid if I did that I might not cut it up. It was a joy to work with....
So tomorrow I'll work on two custom bags, and maybe drop in at our local farmer's market! It's every Thursday, so of course I never go.
I hope to finish up a long neck cowl I've been working on, and will knit more on my green dress as well.
And I think Paul would like you all to know that Bass put up quite a fight, and is now back in the lake where it belongs.
Till next week, knit on good women~
Martha.
