March 19
Greetings! And a very (almost) Happy Spring! The sugar houses have been boiling steadily and that, along with my first sighting (today) of both a Robin and a Redwing Blackbird..along with Canada Geese and pussy willows are for sure, signs of Spring. Did I mention mud? And we love it. Still snow in the backyard and a little in the front, but it's going quickly. ! My swap package was sent out yesterday, and by next week all should have them, so thanks to all who participated...hope you had fun!
I finished up the cream colored sweater and am very pleased. A nice little sweater...a fast and fun knit. This is such a nice time of year too for shawls...I've been enjoying them.
I finally purchased a lap top! I've gone back and forth with the idea for awhile now and broke down yesterday deciding on a Macbook...so far so good, what great machines.
Current projects (well, two of them anyway) are a neckwarmer where I'm knitting together two strands of yarn A pretty hand dyed wool along with a charcoal gray alpaca. It starts big and gradually gets smaller with four needle size changes. The entire thing is a nice lace patter, but I should have known the lace would get lost in the color mix...what was I thinking? So for the base and around the neck I'll keep the lace, then will switch to either a garter stitch of stockinette for the head part. Coming up soon will be a gauge swatch with some pretty Cotton Frappe (elesbeth lavold) from Northeast Fiber Arts...I plan to do a pretty little tank dress for over my jeans and or yoga pants.
The week was good and productive, and although I had a little time today to whip up a few Lil' Yarn Sacks, I chose a quick walk instead...just couldn't resist the sunshine, blue sky and cool wind.....
Till next time....take time...and knit on good women!
Martha.
