October 22
Greetings!
We received our three tons of pellets this afternoon and the many 40 pound bags are waiting to be carried to the basement. Who needs weights? We've been running the stove and just love it, although rain and clouds snuck in this afternoon and it's pretty mild outside now. It was a week of great button finds, some here locally, and some on Ebay. I took my mom to a local craft fair and even though she had a good time, her knees just aren't what they used to be and for the first time I heard her say she feels her age (82). She's a tough little Norwegian though... always up for something fun. I held back and resisted some local yarn, choosing instead a pair of locally made sheepskin slippers... oh cozy feet...
Two weeks ago I stopped at an antique shop (barn) and found this great vintage Pyrex bowl. I love old Pyrex and have quite a lot (!) but can never resist it, and was thrilled to find the elusive polka dot design! It was all of $8.00, and the shop was unattended, so I followed suit and left the money in a jar. Most things have been put away for the winter... hammock, umbrella.... hanging plants, but I left one on the back deck. It hasn't been tended to, but continues to bloom even through the many nightly frosts.... I'll let it go as long as it can... hard to let go sometimes of our oh so pretty summer blossoms!
I have a new style tonight, The Vanessa Tote, a mid size bag that was great fun to put together. Two will be offered tonight....
Paul was looking through an LL Bean catalogue and thought maybe he should just order a hat? HA! Okay... I'll cast it on this weekend :)
My friend Jen from Northeast Fiber Arts has made some excellent videos... she is such a skilled, multi talented fiber artist... view her fun & informative videos here:

We had some high winds... and that along with the frost have taken most of the leaves. It was a beautiful fall though... and now we enter into the best time of year for knitting (aren't all times the best times?)... nice to cozy up with it though...
Thanks for the lovely emails this week, always so nice to hear how much you love your bags! Enjoy the week, take some nice time for yourselves and knit on good women!
Martha.
