September 10

Greetings!

I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. We had friends over, along with the boys and their significant others.... and on Monday we had a visit from my brother-in-law so it was a good social time for sure. I surprised Paul by saying "yes" to his (what I think was a sarcastic request) to mountain bike. Honestly, I'm not sure what came over me, but I thought I'd give it a go. We have some pretty famous trails just a mile from our house, and I do love being in the woods... so off we went. And off I went from my bike.... only once though (not by choice) the other times (and there were quite a few) I hopped off not wanting to try and steer the bike, and myself, through a very narrow opening between two trees. > < But I will say that I can understand the appeal... it is a rush, and was fun, but for me, a bit jarring. I'll stick to my little trips up and down the road :) ... and my yoga. Speaking of which it was great to be back at class last night as we all missed Monday!

My flowers are still so pretty but soon they'll will the fight and go to seed, replaced by mums and eventually... pumpkins. The humming birds are ravenous as they'll be leaving soon and need to prepare for their journey. Local apples are ready though I like to wait a bit to pick, preferring cooler air. But, couldn't resist some from the market. We're starting to see some color... and a few leaves on the ground. The elderberries look ripe too... thought I'd pick some this year and make jelly, but I'll have to see if time allows, and I do have a lot of jam from summer canning.

The earth is drying now and the days (and the light) are waning, so be sure to drink more water and nourish your skin with your favorite lotion... we do need to pay attention to ourselves are we too change seasons.

Two more rows are complete on my blanket and it's still such a fun project! Though it's getting a little harder to not duplicate a square!

The weather has been gorgeous, and the moon has been lovely at night... clear skies and bright stars. As the moon wanes, now is a great time to think about something you may want to shed in your life. A behavior, a frame of mind... a stuck way of thinking.... whatever it is, begin to let it go as she wanes, and release it on the 18th.

Football season starts tonight! I love it! My dad was a football coach so I grew up with it, and still love it.
Thanks for dropping in..... be good... and knit on good women!

Martha.
