April 1
Greetings & rabbit rabbit! How lovely that April is here. We had a
week of rain and fog but the clouds cleared today and it's warm! Well,
warm for April in Vermont. We still have those stubborn bits of snow
but most of it has gone... leaving mud mud and more mud. The pond is
full of life and water lizards scatter if you get too close... and to
my surprise and delight a beautiful moth flew past me today and was
nice enough to land (briefly) on the house just long enough for me to
snap a picture.
Well, I was brave and did it..... I organized my stash! I was ready
with some (6) large plastic containers and dug right in. I organized
containers like this 1) enough for a sweater 2) not quite enough for a
sweater but perfect for shawls, vests etc.... 3) one/two skein wonders
4) more of the same , 5&6) sock yarn (and or shawl yarn). It feels
great! Cedar and sachets were added to each container and my mental
inventory is fresh. Betsy and I plan to have a yarn sale and will be
setting a date soon....
Afterward I treated myself to a run to one of my local yarn shops and
(no, I didn't buy more yarn) found a great pattern for a simple top
down shorty cover up. A green cotton/nylon blend came to mind (packed
neatly away in container # 1) and I couldn't resist casting on. Quick
knit, the fit seems perfect and it's a great shade of grass green...
or I think it is anyway, it's been a while :)
I'm 'in' the 'Fingerless Gloves Fanatics' group over on Ravelry where
every month a knit and a crochet pattern get chosen and the winning
patterns (after suggestions are made and voted on) become a KAL and a
CAL. I've never done it, but have enjoyed looking on as gals progress
through the month... this month I decided to do it as I couldn't
resist the pattern! I'm using Madelinetosh (woops, I did buy yarn, I
remember now) in 'Jade'... a fantastic green in fingering weight and
I'm using size 1 needles. Even though they're small the work is
progressing quickly.
Tonight is yet another episode of Project Runway, one of the few shows
I never miss.... and it's getting close to the finish! Love that show!
Love seeing how creative they all are....
I played a bit this week with a news style that's been in my mind so
look for it under Hybrids..... by next week it'll have a name :)
I pick up more leather straps tomorrow!
Okay... have a great week.... Enjoy the weekend and knit on good women!
