Green Mountain Knitting Bags

April 8

Greetings! Well the road was grated and mud season seems to be almost over, early this year. We had quite the thunder storm two nights ago and high winds today, but the sun is trying hard to stay out! Paul and I have been riding our bikes when ever we can, often up to the upper beaver pond to see the shenanigans going on up there... and the wood frogs have been a riot with their springtime antics! Ahhh, I love this time of year :)

Woody was a bit short on time this week but did manage to make it out to turn a noste, and asked if I could think of anything else 'us knitters' might use. I thought of one of my favorite old tools and that's a stiletto. Stiletto's were used to create holes in fabric that you didn't want cut.... but rather 'expanded'. I have an antique bone one that I keep in my knitting bag. If ever I see stitches that I want to fiddle with (usually color work stitches or stitches that have just been picked back up) I reach for my stiletto and 'work'/straighten them so they're as neat as can be. I've sometimes held my hair up with one, and been known to close a shawl from time to time, or simply to hold some stitches off the needle while maybe a dropped stitch is picked up. So... he turned one out of Cherry and the width is just a tad wider than a size 20 needle. Lovely little thing..... see it tonight. This is the first he's made and we'd both love some feedback about the desire to see more? Thanks...

Also, the new bag style has been named Penelope. Why? I like the name, and somehow it suits her. I think that'll be my next bag....
details of Penelope can be found (as always) on the 'About the Bags' link.

My KAL fingerless mitts have been coming right along. I modified the pattern a bit and the fit is great. While I did the organizing of my stash, I unearthed a lovely cotton and, on a whim, cast on for the Boneyard Shawl. Here's the link for all of you over on Ravelry...

I'm almost finished with 'How to Knit a Love Song' by Rachael Harron... and have enjoyed it a lot. It's a light, fun, fluffy and rather steamy read! Look forward to her next book for sure.

Well... I ate way more chocolate eggs and jelly beans than I should have this week and will be glad when they're gone! I even made Woody take home the rest of the peanut butter eggs (!) .... if it's not in the house, I'm fine.... if it is, well... I'm not so good. Mt secret? Don't buy it!

Best get going.... thanks for being here. Let's all have a good week as we knit on good women!

Martha.
