June 10
Greetings! It's pouring rain today, but as you can see things here in Vermont are lush and green and ripe... well, a few things anyway, like these sweet tiny wild strawberries. I remember being a little girl and the delight I felt in finding these little berry patches. I'm happy to say that at 52 I'm still just as delighted! They were delicious... stems and all :)
It was another busy week... starting with Allison's graduation party which was great fun! Congratulations again Allison!
I finished my tangerine shawlette and am very pleased. Because this yarn has such elasticity, I found I was struggling with using just pins for the blocking, so off I went to purchase my first ever blocking wires. They worked like a dream and the finished shawl has a lovely drape, in this case the wires made all the difference.
I had a great time with Melanie from The Savvy Girls Podcast! She took a bus in to Burlington and Betsy and I met up with her to show off the city we love... then we were off to the fabric shop and of course Northeast Fiber Arts! I got her back to Middlebury for her 6:00 rehearsal. She performing at the The Town Hall Theater in 'The Pearl Fisher'. Paul and I had never been to an opera and went on Tuesday evening. We loved it! Melanie is so talented! We felt like seeing it was a gift that will be with us for a very long time... thanks again Melanie!
Oh and she interviewed me for their latest podcast episode:

According to my family my voice is deeper, but I wouldn't know, so there you have it! She did a great job editing as we were sitting in the park right next to the main road that goes through the town, so there were lots of truck noises that had to be removed..... Again, it was great to meet her and on their next podcast you'll be able to hear Jen from Northeast Fiber Arts!
Woody and I ordered plastic tubes for the stiletto's and they arrived today! From now on each stiletto will come with one and I think I'll add some roving to the bottom... Woody wanted something to protect the tip, and who wouldn't want to look at some pretty roving? This way it be protected and will have a home within your bag. If you've already purchased a stiletto and would like a tube, let me know, it's a minimal cost :) On one of Woody's days here he turned a lovely French rolling for a local custom order. I loved it, and she was delighted. I'm showing the inside of one of tonight's bags... I had to, it's just so pretty and it gives a good view of the perfect size pattern pocket!
Paul is away on business for the next few days, he rarely travels so it's a bit different for us. I'll use the time to do a complete 'go through' of my studio, and Betsy and I are having a huge de-stash yarn and fabric sale in Burlington on Saturday... should be a blast!
I have 2 Pattern Envelopes all ready to put together, but just couldn't quite get to them today... they'll be available for next week.
I don't want to give too much away... but next week I'll be showing something like you've never seen! I'm beside myself with excitement and think you will be too!
I'd better go before I say too much ;) Stay well good women and knit on!
Martha.
