Greetings! I forgot to mention last week that Betsy and I had fun at our yarn & fabric yard sale. The weather wasn't great, but we managed with tarps and umbrellas. Good die hard knitters were there and it was a good excuse to knit together, and wonderful to have purged and organized ourselves! Last Saturday was our World Wide Knit in Public Day held at City Hall Park in Burlington. There was a good turn out and the weather was beautiful! Two gals from Kyarns were there and they were nice enough to hand out 15% off coupons to the store. I stopped in on my way home and picked up a set of Addi 9" circs. Nine inch?! But I held them in my hands and they felt great... so I look forward to giving them a try. I finished up my 'Save the Planet' color way shawl and love it! Finished it up the morning of the Summer Solstice which was lovely timing....! What a beautiful morning it was... and the shawl made it all the more celebratory. I blocked it hard and it expanded beautifully, I can't say enough about her yarn! Pattern is here:

I was finished with the chart but had a bit more yarn that I wanted to use up, so worked two more rows in pattern. It then said to bind off on the wrong side, but I didn't want to do that, so worked across the wrong side in knit and then bound off on the right side while adding deep, iridescent beads to each point. Love it!
I've got five custom bags in the works and am really doing my best to get through the list! Always fun for me to work with women and interesting to see what they choose.....
We're all Harry Potter fans, and I've made one Ravenclaw scarf but my house is Hufflepuff and I've always wanted a scarf... and would love to be able to wear it to the next movie which is coming out in November. So... a friend of mine who's on Ravelry linked me to some Harry Potter themed yarn on Etsy and we each bought a skein. I wrapped it up and even though it's not the traditional striping pattern, I think it's a hoot.... especially with the 'magical' zig zag pattern going up! These scarves are double thick (knit in a tube) and the fringe on the ends closes them together. I cast on 80 stitches on a size 3 needle and am zooming along. I ordered another, fearing I might run out and will use my little 9" circs to make some matching arm warmers..... clearly I'm not yet a grown up.
Feedback was positive for the colored handles... thanks all! I think they're beautiful too....
Raining here this morning but the sun is starting to come out now... we look forward to a gorgeous day tomorrow! There's a meet up at Northeast Fiber Arts this Saturday, always great to see so many local knitters, and so nice that Jen organizes them.
Till next week.... Knit on good women!
Warmly,
Martha.
