Green Mountain Knitting Bags

May 6

Greetings! Ahh May! Vermont just celebrated its 40th anniversary of Green-Up Day! Vermonters all over the state pick up the green garbage bags from their town halls and walk the highways and back roads picking up trash and hauling out old tires and debris from the ditches. Left at the road sides, they're picked up and once again the state has its spring cleaning! I remember doing the 'beach road' every year as a kid... and it's still going strong! Love this state....

All the s--- (we don't say the word now) from the last storm has melted and we've had a great week of mixed sun and clouds. Cooler temperatures, but that's always fine with me.... and some great rain storms too! My favorite, especially when they arrive late in the afternoon when the light is fading...

The lovely apple blossoms are out and the sweet, sweet smell is intoxicating... not to mention that softest shade of pink. Does that not do you heart good????

Betsy and I had a great time at the antique/craft fair and we each have some pretty new bobbles to show for it ;) We also found pretty antique buttons, and I bought a small piece of vintage 40's cotton! A fine, very relaxing day for each of us.

Today would have been my father-in-law's 85th birthday, so before I forget... "Cent Anni" Dad.... !

The new style handles weren't quite ready for me this week but they will be here for next week, so look for the new Willa Bag then!
Kerin Rose did a great job firing the buttons from the class and I picked up mine up and am really pleased! It'll be fun to find a use for them...

Sometimes I carry a pattern in my bag and sometimes I don't. Sometimes my bag has the pattern pocket and sometimes it doesn't! When it doesn't, it's usually off to the side or on the bottom. If the bag isn't tall, and the pattern is on its side, then the snap can't close. So.... when thinking about what I could do with the vintage fabric, I thought it would be fun to play around with a pattern envelope. Something that would fold it in half, lengthwise, so it could tuck in the bag, and the bag, no matter what size, could close easily. I played around with it and had fun! Love mine, and even though I'm not sure if I'll offer them regularly, I did make three for tonight, so enjoy!

It was a busy, productive week, not only with my sewing but also my knitting~ I finished up my Gray/Cream Boneyard Shawl and am really pleased with it. Love the drape of this cotton and the pattern was wonderful, mindless knitting. I have some fingerless glove going that I want to finish up next. The first is almost done....

A warm welcome to the new gals to the site and my usual 'hi there' to my regulars! I hope you're all enjoying Spring wherever you are and remember that it's a time for flowers and a time to rejoice! Happy Mother's Day also to you moms out there :) Sunday I'll see my mom and will do my annual purchasing of flowers. The afternoon will consist of playing in the dirt arranging the pots as I see fit. And if it rains? That's okay... there's always knitting.

Have a great week, remember to take time, keep your faces to the sun and knit on good women!

Martha.
